MASAFINA X MADRE ‘26

A ‘SPECIAL’ COLLABORATION IN HONOUR OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY & MOTHER’S DAY

We’ve teamed up with the wonderful Laura & Andrea from Masafina to bring you some very special specials.

If you didn’t already know, our tortillas are handmade in London by the brilliant, women-led team at Masafina. Their kitchen isn’t just a place to cook - it’s where stories are shared, recipes are passed down, and heritage is celebrated.

From a tiny West London kitchen, to five months roaming Mexico, to the wisdom of one extraordinary Mexican Madre. Our collaboration blends bold flavours & a little homegrown love.

MASAFINA’S STORY

“Our story is rooted both in the vibrant culture of Mexico City’s food, as well as a small kitchen in a West London flat.”

Andrea grew up in Mexico City, surrounded by culture, history, and a kitchen influenced by talented women. An art historian and journalist by trade, she studied in Barcelona and Paris - but the real lessons were always at the stove. Before Masafina, Laura was Product Director at Belazu, creating award-winning ingredients celebrated by some of the UK’s best chefs.

After meeting Laura in Mexico, Andrea moved to the UK. When they couldn’t find the Mexican ingredients they loved, they rolled up their sleeves and started creating them themselves.

Pair Laura’s industry know-how with Andrea’s Mexican culinary roots, and you get a partnership that’s a little bit magic. From a tiny West London kitchen — their very unofficial HQ — they’ve grown into their own factory in North Acton, creating bold, authentic flavours from Mexico and supplying fresh, sustainable ingredients to restaurants across the UK, including Madre!

In honour of their story (and the incredible tortillas you know and love at Madre), we’ve put our heads together - with a little help from Sylvia, Andrea’s mum (becauses Madre’s know best) - to create a handful of special dishes, available from International Women’s Day right through to Mother’s Day.
